Eco Floristry and Styling
With great enthusiasm for learning new techniques, I recently had the pleasure of attending an eco floristry workshop hosted by the renowned florist Sabine Darrell. The workshop focused on wedding flower designs and styling, offering valuable insights and industry knowledge. A key theme throughout the workshop was the emphasis on using environmentally friendly products and incorporating recycling into our floristry practices.
During the workshop, we delved into the art of creating a semi-arch structure using seasonal foliage and stunning spring flowers, all without the use of floral foam, commonly known as oasis. In addition to honing our practical skills, we engaged in insightful discussions with fellow like-minded florists, sharing our approaches to eco-friendly floristry and exploring the availability of environmentally sustainable products such as containers and meshes from suppliers.
One particularly beneficial aspect of the workshop was the session on photography and styling. We learned about various techniques and mobile apps for capturing and showcasing our floral designs on social media, enhancing our online presence and presentation of our work.
The day culminated in the hands-on creation of urn designs using containers, allowing us to apply our newfound knowledge and skills in arranging foliage and flowers to craft captivating designs. The workshop truly highlighted the artistry, romance, and sophistication that can be achieved with individual flowers and foliage in different shades, harnessing the power of imagination and seasonality.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to Sabine for her engaging and informative workshop, as well as her infectious passion for floristry and photography.
